Recieved my new/used 22 Hornet today !!
« on: March 01, 2005, 03:59:12 PM »
pickup my 22 Hornet from ffl transfer dealer today. Its 22" stainless barrel and action, synthetic non monte carlo stock, has front sight but rear is removed to mount rail, came with weaver high mounts, K6 weaver, swivels, and hammer spur.  Overall looked good, slight speckling on finish and some scratches, used a scotchbright pad to polish barrel and action on outside. cleaned bore, flits polished bore and chamber.  One screwup, dealer said he put it together for me ( was shipped in short box 2 pcs) when I looked at forearm it had half inch gap at front, unscrewed fore end and discovered that barrel lug had scraped big chunk of plastic off one side- I use drill to clean out area and stock now screws down and touches front. I will shoot first then try oring deal.
Looks like lug wants to be at rear of hole instead of center !
advertised as heavy barrel but muzzle is about .650 so it just seems heavy with small bore.. Noticed recoil pad says Choate tools, is this normal or replacement ??

I think Choate tools makes H&R synthetic stocks as for the heavy barrel I don't know sounds like a standard but handi standard is prob equal to a heavy of other manufacturers. I have a 20in light for my son just bought a barrel & added it to a frame it shoots the 35gr hornady vmax the best(factory load) will try & duplicate it by handloading. shot less than an inch at 75yrd with a 2.5 scope
That's my boy, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!
