Stance when shooting TC?

Going to have built an Encore with 16" barrel (will be big bore, .308 Win or larger). I'm short, 5'2", with appropriately short arms and small hands. What does everyone find is best shooting stance? Pistol or rifle stance?

I'm looking at one of the slings listed on E. Arthur Brown's site, as feel that sling would both help me carry and to stabilize shooting (may also get a shooting stick of some kind).

I am a little confused here.  I thought the 16" and above was in the rifle or carbine category?  Did you mean the 15" for handgun?   :grin:

Larry I don't think there is a max lenght for pistols just minumum for rifle. I have a VV 16 1/4" in 308 win I use and have seen pictures of pistols using sporter rifle lenghts.

RupertBear, http://www.eabco.com/JSI01.html  thats what I use  because thats me in the pic.  The pistol in picture was  borrowed from Justin at Virgin Valley years ago.  The pistol barrel I have now  has the rifle taper and uses a rifle composite forearm with hanger bar system. Rupertbear,  I tried the sling on my Encore 15".  It was okay to carry, but found that the sling was too short to use as a support to shoot.  By the time I extended the sling to the length pictured on EABCO's website, the gun was hanging down by my knees (I'm 5'10").  I don't know, maybe they're using an elastic sling for the photos, but I couldn't make it work.  I got rid of the sling, and just shoot with right hand on grip, off hand under barrel on forestock.

The sling is webbing and does not stretch. There are two (2) adjustments for length. One for carry and one for shooting. It is simple to adjust. 1st-The snap buckle moves on webbing to adjust lenght for carry and easy to move to accommodate extra clothing or shooter size. 2nd-The other adjustment is for overall lenght or shooting position.  Should be adjusted to give a little resistance to steady pistol. Really is pretty simple. Mounted backwards it would be confusing.
