Has anyone here gotten a K31 from SOG?
« on: March 03, 2005, 10:20:12 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has bought a K31 here from SOG and what condition was it in> Since AIM is out till the end of the month and who even knows then if they will have them as I tried to preorder one and they would not do that yet said I could not for a couple of weeks. SOG has them for a bit more money but still reasonable. I have bought from SOG before and was satisfied but any input on the condition of the guns if you have gotten one from there would be appreciated. I am thinking most of these guns come from the same importer so I would think there would not be a great deal of difference. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

The impression I get from reading over the years (and buying one rifle) is that everyone seems to be happy with the metal and the bores (aren't the bores chromed?) but there is considerable variation in the condition of the wood. Since almost nobody gets a really nice stock I wouldn't worry about it. One theory is that the troops stacked the rifles at night with the muzzles together and then kicked the buttstocks the next morning to break them loose from the frozen ground. Probably just a story but I like it. These are really neat rifles. Plan for a beat-up buttstock and you'll be happy.

No that would make sense on the stocks as I have seen pictures of them stacked in the snow and the mountain troops had cleats on their boots so that makes sense. I suppose that is why some stocks are beat up at the butt and others are not depending on where they were used. I will order on on Wed and let you all know what she looks like when I get it. Jim
