Remington Kleanbore pirmer

Has anyone tried this primer to reduce or eliminate the crud ring?
Is it the 209-4 primer?
Or is it something new that Remington developed?

I have heard that this primer all but eliminates the loading problems that occur with 777 powder

Let us know what you all might have found out about this primer

Thanks

Was it or is it a .410 Rem. primer, they use less of a charge.I shot today and the CCI's were cleaner than the Winchester 209's.

They call it the Remington Kleanbore 209 primer and they say that they are much cleaner than any other primer and that you can get up to 15 shots before you have to swab the barrel with 777 powder.
I have a hunch that it is the .410 primer but I would like to know for sure so if any of you out there have any help that you could give it would be appreciated .

Thanks

This new Remington primer could be worth something. I have information that the new Black Mag'3 powder makes absolutely no residue when fired with an electronic ignition source. If we combine the cleanest powder and the cleanest primer the result should be impressive. Everybody keep us posted as to where and when the primers are available.

I don't know if Remington has changed the 410 primer to the Kleanbore name or not. If you look at the Rem. web site under shotshell reloading all they list now is the 209 STS Premier Primer and no other primer. Also not long ago someone here had posted D&R had the Rem. 410 primers. Well they no longer have them on the web site, or it is not shown with the other Remington primers. All they have listed is the 209 STS Premier.
My thought is the 410 Premier primer is no longer available, since it is not on the web sites. The 410 primer could be the same primer, billed now as the Kleanbore primer. I'm guessing there are probably more people shooting muzzle loaders than there are people reloading 410 shells.
Who knows mabe the Kleanbore primer is a new design to address the crud ring problem. I never really had a problem in my Rem. 700 ML. I'm glad someone is advertising a primer to help reduce the crud problem.
I guess we will shall see soon enough,
Stan

A guy I know on another forum, who is very knowledgable, says that the new primer is just the old .410 primer in a new box.
I am the one who posted that link to getting that deal on the .410 primer at D&R. That was a helluva deal, 1000 primers for 20 bucks and no hazmat fee.
That link was valid ten days ago.
Funny that the .410 primer goes extinct at the same time that the "new" primer comes on the market.
I bet you won't be able to buy the new inline primer for 20 bucks for a thousand.
Aim small don't miss.

Just as a point of information - I have been shooting the Remington 209-4 for several years.  The last time I went to get some more none of my local contacts could find them anywhere.  About the time the people started posting they were available again - I went to my local Wal-Mart sporting goods section - had them order a brick just to see if they could still get them - 2 weeks later they were in the store..

The box says:
No. 209-4 Premier Primers

It really is the same box that I have always purchased...

Right at $23 with Idaho tax...
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

I tried to order some from my Walmart in December and they told me that they did not have them listed in any of their books and could not get them.

Keith Lewis,

I couldn't get them in December either, but then again it seems each Wal-Mart might have some differences depending on which middle man supplier they use...  The guy that runs our sporting goods department is a pretty savvy guy and can get most anything you want.  i guess I thought he was getting materials from the Wal-Mart distribution network, but maybe he has another outlet also..

Sabotloader....

Could you get me the walmart store phone # that you had get the 209-4 primers along with the contact person at that store. Do you have the UPC code from the carton of primers?
My walmart store said that they will order these primers for me if I can help them get the correct info to order them from.

I tried to PM you but the system keeps saying that it is an invalid session.

Thanks for your help!

Two Bears,

Wal-Mart
Mosocw, Idaho 83843

(208) 882-883-8828

Weekday afternoons - ask for Charles, manager sporting goods...

Talk to him this evening - he gets them from the regualr Wal--Mart supplier, but he says only 72 of the 3000 Wal-Mart stores are licensed for powders and primers.

Hope this helps you....

I just got off the phone with Remington Arms (after wading through a bazillion phone prompts).

I asked if the new 'Kleanbore Primer' was just the old 209-4 renamed.  The person I talked to said, "it is a whole new technology, definately not the old 209-4".  So, take that for what it's worth.

Well I got the SCOOP from Remington themselves!  From there response to my email to them they tell me this:

Subject
---------------------------------------------------------------
Kleanbore primers  or 209-4 primers

Discussion Thread

Response (Derek) - 03/02/2005 03:07 PM
Dear John,
Thank you for your inquiry.  The 209-4 and the Kleanbore primers have
similar characteristics.  However the Kleanbore primers will not be
available until the third quarter of 2005.

SO ............If I read between the lines with one eye squinted - stand on one leg and hold my breath..... it tells me that they are probably the same primer..........Doesn't It?

At any rate it is saying that they will each have similar results.

I read an article on these new primers back in Novermber and sent an email to Remington asking about them.  Their email response was that they weren't changing their primers!  Now in February the Kleanbore primers come out on their website stating this is the next best thing since sliced bread.

Since you all are getting two different stories and responses doesn't surprise me anymore.  It would be nice if Remington would get their act together and be at least consistent in their stories about new products.
