That is asking a lot of a .22 long rifle, even using the newest high velocity ammo available.  I believe you would be much better served using a .22 WMR at the very least.  Not if you want clean consistent kills that is.  I wouldn’t even use a .17 HMR at 100 yard plus range.  Me, I wouldn’t use anything smaller than a .22 Hornet on those tough little hogs.  Lawdog

I got my first .22 LR single shot when I was 13 years old. I spent about every free min. I had in the summer time walking the fields hunting groundhogs. I did take a few at over 200 yrds. with it, but not many for the amount of ammo I fired. I did take alot of them from 125 to 150 yrds. but most of these were taken by setting up on some holes and zeroing my rifle to hit at that range then waiting on the groundhogs. A well placed shot will kill them quickly at these ranges, but that means eather the brain, about a 1 dia. target, or the chest, about a 2 1/2 in. target. There is alot better ammo out now than there was back then. Most of the Hiper velosity ammo is not verry accurate though. I have played around with Velositators ?? though and them seem to be the most accurate of the fast .22 LR ammo. The main thing to rember when hunting with a .22 rimfire is get as close as you can. Good luck with your hunting.

I'm an old man now...but I have hunted many years with .22 long rifle as well as with more powerful rifles.
Yes, 100 yards IS a stretch for a .22 LR...but the Marlin 7000 is a good one to start with since it is VERY accurate.
I have reached them for the kill that far out with Stingers....but you don't want to use Stingers in that match chamber!
Check out the CCI Velociters, the 31 gr Federal hyper @ 1550 fps ( my 7000 loves them), or even the WW power points.
Ammo is much better that years ago, when I was taking 'chucks regularly at 50-75 yards...
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

iv shot a number of woodchucks at 100 yards and a little farther with my JC higgens and rem.golden bullets.its all about shot placement.if you hit them in the head or neck they wont go anywhere but with a body shot they will probably make it down a hole but eventually die of lead poisoning.
