What are the differences between the Sidekick and Huntsman? See them both in the new catalog, but they really don't tell you what is the differences between the two models.

Jim,

The Huntsman frame is a SB1, can have shotgun barrels fitted at H&R/NEF with the exceptions of 10ga and 12 Ultra Slug Hunter. Is considered a Firearm.

The Sidekick frame is shorter, cannot have other barrels fitted to it and is not considered a Firearm. It is strictly a muzzleloader and no 4473 form is required.

As far as shooting goes both muzzleloaders are almost identical except for the shorter receiver on the Sidekick. Hope that clears it up, if not let us know.

Not really sure yet about the 2005 model 26" barreled Huntsmans, the 26" Sidekick can. I have a 24" barreled Huntsman and the recommended max load is 100 grains of powder. I am sure they all would be capable, but only recommended in the 26" barrels due to the longer tube and burn time. A call to CS should be able to clear that up. Good question.
