I was looking up loads for the 45 colt for the new vaquero I was going to get. I love shooting P+ load from cor-bon & B.B.out of my Rugers.I can't beleave Ruger would build a not as strong handgun. :? theres no way I would ever buy this Ruger.I should call Ruger,and see that they say.talk to you later. :-)

I read your post 2 weeks ago, while thinking of getting a Marlin 1894CB in .45 Colt. I had been doing some research on the .45 Colt vs. .44 Mag, and was ready to order one...
Instead, I got two Pre-2005 Vaqueros in .45 Colt so I could shoot the +P if I wanted to. One is a special edition w/ a .45 ACP cylinder, too. They are my first two revolvers, and I love them.

The New vaquero wasn't built with heavy loads in mind. It was designed and built for the CASS crowd. They have no need nor practical use for these hot loads. Wht they wanted was a smaller frame much like that of the original Colts. The CASS crowd is a huge market and Ruger decided to simply grant thier wishes. There's plenty of the previous Vaqueros stil out there new and there'll be a bunch of used ones soon I'm guessing. Call Ruger, they will proberly say something quite similar. Want the hot rodded loads to shoot, by the Blackhawks (large frame).

Just getting into Cowboy Action Shooting. Six months ago, when shopping for my handguns, I passed on the Vaquero because the grips were a bit too large for my hands. So I purchased a couple of USFAs from Doug Turnbull instead.

To be honest, I never saw a need for the heavy load capability of the Vaquero. For my hunting needs, I have several BH, SBH, SRH's in my collection. The thought of being forced to use fixed sites only, vs. adjustable or scopes didn't make sense to me.

I had a chance to handle the new model Vaquero just the other day. I love the way it fits in my hand, the hammer pull and action is very smooth, and much lighter than the older models. If they were available 6 months ago, I would have purchased them. I still may in another 6 months when they are more available.

My only regret is they are going to discontinue the old model. They should have kept both to please folks on both sides of the fence.

Why not just buy one of the "old" Vaqueros? While they may be a cataloged model any longer, a lot were just shipped to davidsons' in both .44 mag and .45lc models. Pick one up.
