UPDATE: New York Assault Weapons Bill To Be Heard On March 1

Friday, February 25, 2005: A bill that would drastically expand the state's current assault weapons ban by redefining what constitutes an "assault weapon" will be heard in the Assembly Codes Committee on March 1. In addition to expanding the ban, A 2466 would require those who currently own any firearm deemed an "assault weapon" to register it, render it permanently inoperable or turn it in to the police.

Those who choose to register their firearms would be subject to an additional NICS check and would be required to have the firearm tested for entry in to the state's ballistic imaging program. Last week, we reported that Senator Eric Schniederman (D-31) introduced S 2445, which also seeks to expand the assault weapons ban by outlawing many more guns by name and adding specific features to the definition of "assault weapon." Please contact your state Assembly member and Senator today and ask him or her to oppose A 2466 and S 2445!

It hasn't got a chance of passing. But if it somehow does, I'm moving. Besides the taxes, I have had just about enough of this crap.

Most of the bullsh&t in NY comes from downstate and then they wonder why we don't trust them when they buy vacation property or move "up here". Cut it off at Orange County and make "it" the 51st state and "it" can have Clinton and Schumer for "its" senators. Must be the air or something; but did you ever notice how most of the liberal crap comes from metro areas of the US. Why is that? Even in the Bible Lot was warned about the "cities".

I agree...Then they can generate their own water and power and see where they are then...Much of the power that NYC utilizes comes from the Niagara Power project right here in Niagara County...Seems that inhabitants of Niagara County could benefit from this reliable and inexpensive power production but NYC is benefitting. Oh well, cut them off and see how quickly they wither.
