I recently bought 2 dozen #4 Victor double longsprings,they have cast jaws,not offset.They were last used the fall of 1947,you can read the pans,they are in excellent shape.I also got 3 dozen 1 and 1 1/2 longsprings with cast jaws,they are in excellent shape.I got 3 Truimph coil spring traps looks like #3 or #4 in excellent shape.There are a couple of double jaw,cast longspring traps also.Where can I find out what these might be worth?I have $2.00 a piece in them.

The #4's and the 1 1/2's are very common traps that are still considered users even though they were probably made in the mid 30's or later. The coil springs may be a different story depending on what they are and their condition. Some of the Triumph coils go for real big money - most are from $15 to $30 in very good condition and cast double jaws are always in demand.

Keep in mind that old traps are like anything else. If you find the right person at the right time you'll make more money. There's only one trap price guide out there and I wouldn't recommend anybody buying it. It's inflated a great deal and will lead to disappointment more than likely. Your best bet is to post them on some forums or list them on ebay. At $2 each you are going to make some money for sure but unless you have something really hard to find or they are in exceptional shape you aren't going to get rich. Be prepared to have pictures of the coils and the double jaws. That was a good find at that price.

Howdy Coyotero,

I love longsprings, and bought almost a dozen 3n's from a cat trapper from Lovelock Nevada. They were made in the 40's and are in great shape.
I paid about $8.00 each ... with a little trading. {Homemade knives and vintage Bobcat urine and some cash for the 3n's.}
However for #3 LS's with off set jaws I usually have to pay closer to 10.

That silly goof Stinky Lynxy Cat Trapper sells them things on ebay and gets rediculous money LOL. The #4 double longs may go good there as wall hangers etc...heck they'er almost bear traps LOL

Knife, season is all but over. However, if I had an apprentice handy, I could get them whipped into shape for next year. I would prefer one in the 30ish to 40ish age bracket, female, great disposition, good work ethic, eager to please and easy on the eyes. May I thank you in advance for your efforts in this regard.
