I think T/C made them. I see them advertised ever now and then.  :D

And my 10' er shoots like a house afire... way better than the .44 mag IMHO. and w/ 45 ACP's it is a blast and brings out the accuracy potential of this ctg...  Marty

Thanks for the replies.  I was thinking of having a 17" carbine bbl made in 45 Win Mag, but wasn't sure if the Contender could handle it.  Either that or a 45 Colt (I have dies for the Colt).  Figure I can soup up the Colt to 45 Mag levels.(?)  I was thinking about using possibly shortened 454 brass with 45 colt loading info.....

Yes, Both 10" and 14" were made.  I currently have both.  Been meaning to turn the long one into .45Colt but haven't got round to it.  Both shoot very good, but when loading for either you have to apply just the right amount of taper crimp for head spacing.  No crimp and they won't go in the chamber.  GOOD SHOOTIN',  Walt  :-)

I have had my 45 wm 14" for about 4 years now. It is a very accurate barrel and loves Blue Dot under a 250 gr xtp. I put a red dot on it last year all you have to do is point and the bullet is there.

I love my 10" Contender .45 WM.  You would really get some velocity out of carbine.

The WM is a shorter case than the 45 Colt (which was designed for balck powder) so the case is closer to full with a max load. I think this helps in accuracy. I have shot a 45 Colt at 45 WM velocities, but it did not give me really good groups. I suppose it could have been the gun.

just my opinion,
mike
