Left hand short action
« on: March 20, 2005, 01:18:49 PM »
I am looking to build my first gun.  I have had off the shelf rifles models, but would like to build, or more correctly work with my local gunsmith to build a gun from the action up.  I would like a cartridge based off the the .308.   Probably a .243, or possibly a .260.    My question is will Remington sell an entire action to my local gunsmith/dealer.  I know that Brownells has them, and that would be perfect if they had the lefty, but their website indicates only right handed.      Thanks in advance,    Curly

Your best bet is to call Remington, 1-800-243-9700 and ask about it.  :D

I called Remington today as Fishman suggested.  Apparently only Brownells has the special receivers for building rifles, and they only come in right hand.   I explained my dislike for the ISS, and why I wanted to build up a rifle.   The lady from customer service stated I could order the CDL, as they are phasing out the ISS safteys.   If this is in fact true, it is great news for me.   My .270 from the custom shop had to have the ISS removed because it came into contact with the trigger safety.   Has anybody else heard from Remington about this?
