Stuck case in die - need help
« on: March 08, 2005, 04:03:42 PM »
Stuck a 22-250 case tonight, read on a past post to run a tap and bolt
in it.  Don't know exactly how to put washers on?  Do they go on the
outside of  the case and you pull up with bolt??  What is the best lube to use?  This is a real pain.

                              thanks Coalminer7

That's how the stuck case removers work, you drill out the primer pocket then tap it for threads to screw in a bolt.  Between the bolt head and the die, goes a large cup with a hole in the center for the bolt.   The lip of the cup touches the bottom of the die and as you thread in the bolt to the case head, the cup pushes the die off the case.

Hope that answers what you are asking.

Pull the decapping pin if you can from the top of the die. Use a small punch and tap the case out. I have also uses vice grips if the case is out enough to grab the bottom of the case and moving it side to side while putting downward pressure and popping it out. The main thing is enough case lube to make smooth resizing but not to much where you get case dents.  :D
If  you're going to make a hole, make it a big one.

I find that an appropriately sized socket makes a good "cup" for this job.
Just another worthless opinion!!

THANK YOU ALL

Case is now out, this trick with the threading the bolt in is
       really neat.

       Again I thank you                  Coalminer7
