I agree with you. However, when it comes to Chicago and the demographics of it's population, some who make the race accusation (not me, as I see gun control simply as a common sense and constitutional issue), would see that aspect to this story. If the policy is to deny guns to citizens of Chicago, you're denying guns disproportionally to minorities. I know that if I were forced to live in a high-crime area in Chicago, I wouldn't want any impediments to my right to be armed.
By the way, if folks want to interpret gun control that way, I say go ahead, it can only help our cause.
