45 Colt front sight problem
« on: March 24, 2005, 02:00:54 PM »
I have a 10" 45 Colt barrel with factory sights. Regardless of the load it shoots too high. This barrel has a soldered front sight. Can the factory replace it with a higher one or should I get a scope mount put on.

Hi
It might be the rear sight...They came with different height rear"blades" (the thing with the notch...I don't know the right name) If you get a shorter one, you might cure the problem. If you have other sights, check... If not measure yours and maybe I have a shorter one or maybe someone else here has it.
Also If you are shooting a lite load they shoot higher and you need to correct for that problem.

Jim is right on.  Get a different rear sight.  Have any silhouette shooters around?  They will probably have one sitting in a box collecting dust.  They will help you out.

I did not realize that TC had different height rear sight blades available. I'll measure mine and see what I need. Thanks.
