Got my K31 today
« on: March 15, 2005, 12:21:19 PM »
OK I got it from SOG and was interested in a couple of things they did. First of all the box was double boxed first time I had seen that on any gun I have ordered 2 I ordered  Walnut they said they were out and would beech be ok I said fine as long as the numbers match. The lady that took my order wrote on it by hand "Send Best Available" Which I do not know if they do that to all their orders or what but I was impressed. OK for the gun The blueing is about 80% got some wear and fading but not bad. That does not bother me as it is honest wear. The stock has some dents but no gouging to speak of and is dark. It looks like some one revarnished it somewhat on the stock butt but I can clean that up with wood turners finish. The bore is what I feel is Excellent and I took it to the gun shop I go to and a guy there is real big into milsurps he said the same thing Excellent. Shiny and real nice rifleing. The trigger is a dream. What a rifle. OK about the stock I do not think it is beech I could be wrong but the wood is dark and straight grained. I did not see any of the half mooned shapes you see on beech stocks. Also when I took the magazine out the wood in there is dark I supposed stained so I do not know for sure they said they were out or Walnut but this sure looks like walnut to me. I guess I will be able to tell better when I clean it up and post the pics you can decide. I will post pics after I get it cleaned up a bit. I shoot in a pool tournament tonite so cannot do any thing until after that. All in all I am very satisfied and cannot wait to get some dies and start shooting. Sad part is this rifle took care of this months mad money so I will have to wait until next month to get some ammo. :(   Oh almost forgot yep it did have a tag under the butt plate

Looks like it says:

Zurchev  Rudolf
Zurchevstv 48 St. Gallen
Fus Kp. I 83

The only thing that does not impress me is Centurys electropenciled in dotted crap on the end of the barrel. ANy other guns I have are stamped. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

Congratulations on your purchase - The K-31's are a work of art for sure. I am sure you will enjoy it more once you take it to the range!
