40 S&W loads for a 16" barrel?

I just bought the Hi-Point 40 S&W carbine and LOVE IT.  Here's my problem......

All of the loading manuals I have show loads for standard pistol barrel lengths.  The carbine has a 16" barrel and spits bullets out at 1500(ish) fps.  I would like to use this gun for small hogs (50-100 pounds) under 50 yards, but am concerned about "jacket separation" at that speed.  I can't use plain lead, because my barrel would be a mess at that speed.

Any suggestions?  Any idea where I might be able to find a ballistics chart for that length barrel?

You CAN use "plain lead" at those velocities, IF you use the right BHN. I'd think 16 thru 21 would be hard enough & still allow the base to obturate, or sread out to seal the bore. Course, you'll likely have to roll your own. Someone with more knowledge may want to weigh in on this. jd45.

Get a gas checked bullet.. I run mine up to around 2000 in my 357 max (22" barrel).

either go with a gas checked or moly coated lead bullet
