How about a 26.5mm flare barrel for NEF rifles?

Think of it, it would only need to be less than 6 inches in length, and would be designed so that it would only be able to accept emergency flares or 12 guage flare inserts.

I believe you can have a shoulder stock on a flare gun.

Might be a pretty handy thing to have for a lost hunter or for in a truck/auto.

You could be hunting and get lost or hurt. You change out your barrel, pop in a flare, mount it to your shoulder and poof! - emergency flare.

I would carry one with me while hunting. It would not be that heavy.

Any thoughts or comments?

Maybe we could all email NEF and ask them to produce one?/

If I'm not mistaken...I believe they did make a flare gun several years ago...you would have to check some books on it though...

Not a bad idea for use on a boat, but I'd be afraid it would make a just lost situation into a run for my life situation from the forest fire set by the flare! Kinda like jumpin out of the fryin pan and into the fire, more or less!! :eek:

Last summer some genius here in So Cal did just that.  Started one of the most destructive fires in recent history.  He was "lost" so he just shot up a flare in hopes someone would see it.  No one did, but they sure saw the fire it started.

I'd say for boating it's a great idea.  For hunting in all but the wettest of woods, not a good idea.  You never know where it will land.
