How many of you get off the bench and shoot from field positions at unknown distances with your hunting handguns?
I prefer painted steel, since it is easier to see and hear.
What about you?

unfortunately at my range shooting at unknown distances is impossible. You MUST fire from designated points Targets MUST be set at the berms. NO glass or metal targets are allowed. You can ,how ever , go prone ,kneel or sit in the "protective " box if you choose. You may also fire thru the box while sitting on a seat or standing,as long as the muzzle is in the box!

Once my handguns are sighted in, we put targets out from about 15 yards to 50 yards and shoot. One of the other shooters calls your target.

I'm assuming that you hunt exclusively with straight-wall cartridges. Right?

A lot of ranges have similar rules (I understand why too).

If you have access to enough private land (with safe back-stops) you could set-up your own field courses.

Shooting Steel is so much fun. Since I rarely hunt with a straight-walled case, we start at about 150 yards and go further.
