Pressed through the hole in the bottom plate with a metal end of a pen, this moved the metal part that contacts the spring, then started sliding the end piece off and used a ball point (of the pen) to release tension again and slid the rest of the way. Total time less than a minute on each of the two mags.
Paid under six dollars for factory extensions, and the factory mags were about 22.00 each. Most of the PT111 mags on the web are sold without extensions for more than $30.00. Shop around if you have time, and note: some aftermarket stuff is in a word - junk!
