What are some good loads for the .44mag with 2400 powder.

 The bullets I'm using are:
 300 gr Hornady XTP (ouch)
 240gr Hornady sil
 200 hornady JHP

I've never used 2400 for my 44mag. With the heavier bullets you listed, you would probably be best off using WW296 or H110. the 44mag seems to do best will full power loads, especially with accuracy, from what I have found over the years.

Good shooting.

2400 is what i've used most. 21.0gr with a 240gr bullet is great.

I like 2400 for the 44 magnum because it works well and it can be used for reduced loads.  My max loads have been about 1.5 grains lighter than the published maximum loads.  The Speer 13 manual says they retested 2400 with the 44 magnum for that edition of the book and found that standard primers give better performance and lower pressures than magnum primers.

I have tried 2400 in my SBH .44 7.5"
Don't like it, to much flash and the accuracy was not as good as H-110.
Also tried the downloading thing with 2400 and it just got worse.
Others seem to love it, but it did not work for me :? .

hylander:

What weight bullet are you using? I found that light bullets like 180 grainers gave me an unbelieveable fireball at the muzzle. Heavier bullets in my 6" barrel are fine.

Hi,

22gr of 2400, cci mag pistol primer, 240gr whatever in a 6" sbh for vel of 1440fps.  Lately, I've been using H110, 21gr and 300gr Hornady XTPs

I use 17.5 gr. of 2400 with my 300 gr. bullets and 20.0 gr. of 2400 with my 240 gr. bullets. 2400 is all I use in my 44 MAG's. :D

Well, Have you settled in on a load with the 2400?

How about Unique? A lot of shooters like it with the lighter bullets.
