Do you have the pins in the firing selector on the hammer?
Your contender has two firing pins. If you pull the hammer back you can see them one over the other. Touch them with a ball point pin. Do they move ok?
You hammer selector changes the pins that actually hits the firing pin. When you have the lever on C, a pin on the hammer hits the lower firing pin on the frame. When you have the lever on R, another different pin hits the upper firing pin on the frame.
The newer TC trigger just has roll pins that are pushed into place. They can come out on firing a heavy recoiling round. Since the center fire pin is usually the one hitting, the 22 pin is the one that flies out.
Cock your hammer back, and switch the lever back and forth. See the pins that hit the firing pin? Is one missing? If so, let TC know. They will likely send you a new hammer and hammer spring. If so, you have a whole new ball game to learn in replacing that hammer, but you CAN do it.
Good Luck,
Steve
