Does anyone own any of these guns, I am looking for a 12 ga 3 1/2 that does not kick like a mule.  The MP 153 is a gas operated auto, that should take some of the kick out of it right?  Thanks for any info

I dunno how to break this to ya gently so I'm jist gonna up and say it.

If ya shoot that much lead down the barrel propelled by that much powder it is gonna KICK like the dickens and it don't matter what ya shoot it in.

Yes a gas operated semiauto will "seem" to kick a bit less than a double or pump gun. Part of this is the usual heavier weight of a semi auto and part is the gas bleed off and delay that results from the action. BUT if the gun all weight the same the actual recoil measured in ft. lbs. is really gonna be the same. The difference is in perceived recoil. The stock design and dimensions and the type recoil pad you have are really more important.

I have a Remington 11-87 but it is a 3" not 3-1/2" gun. Still I often use a full 2 oz. of shot and it do kick when ya do that. There is really little gained with the 3-1/2" over the 3" if you use the 2 oz. loads in the 3" gun.

davefl4200,
I agree with Graybeard on the recoil. If you're going to shoot the big ammo you're going to get kicked.

Yes, gas operated semi-autos will reduce the recoil....compared to a pump or double barrel. The heavier weight of a shotgun will help to off-set the felt recoil too.

I'm going to purchase a MP-153 in March. I can't wait to get started shooting this shotgun. I've heard so much good about it. Also, the MP-153 weight is at the 8 lb. mark.
