Hey guys what are your feelings on this new caliber? I am thinking about buying the  barrel for my encore. I think it would make a pretty good deer cartridge as well as a good target load.  Opinions welcome

Ive never been a fan of 270 caliber, but I hope this cartridge is here to stay. The military needs a better cartridge for the M-16. As far as reloaders factory ammo is now available and Ive seen brass for sale on ebay and on www.midwayusa.com. With remington making rifles and ammo, T/C making contenders and encores, AR makers selling uppers I think This cartridge will take off.

Actually its based on the .30 Remington which in no way looks like a .30 carbine. Because of the case dimensions and pressure levels it will be a natural for a Contender....much like the 7-30 waters. I expect it is here to stay.

ditto skb2706, it is an IDEAL round for the Contender and fills the void quite nicely between the 223 and 30-30.
