What do you guys think it looks like walnut to me even though SOG said they was out. Stock has straight running grain and does not have any of the half moon marks the beech does and is a darker color.

Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

those are quite popular down there, aren't they? you don't see them that much up here because ammo is hard to find i guess. even up here good condition ones are fairly cheap. we got our own domestic straight pull that fire the readily available .303 British. the nice thing about buying guns from neutral countries like Sweden and Switzerland is you know they haven't seen the abuse of combat like a lot of other milsurps.

Ok my serial # is 22xxxx the chart says it was made in 54 the stock is walnut after looking at it under the buttplate. This is stamped 44. So I am guessing that this rifle must have been restocked at one time with a 44 dated walnut stock. Correct or am I wrong on this?

Kevin if you can pick one up cheap in Canada I would grab it and then worry about getting reloadable brass later. The 284 Brass can be resized to work also but I do not know how available that is in Canada either. From what I am hearing on the Websites this gun will definately give the Swede Mausers and the Finns  39's competition. 2 inches and under at 100 yards with open sights. The sights are nice on these also a fine front post type sight and a nice rear sight for a good sight picture. These are definately a bargain at todays prices and with only a half a million made they are bound to go up in price and harder to get when they sell out. Jim

Jim,

Nice rifle!
I do think it looks like walnut.
You going to leave sights as is or you going to add a scope?

Not sure yet Ray I will shoot it first with open sights to see how well I can do with it but I really do like scout scope setups so I may go that route if I can find a decent base. Jim

K-31 With Scout Scope

I mounted a scout scope on my K-31 using a Darrell's no drill and tap scope mount.

This K-31 is shooting 3 shot .5" groups. This rifle amazes me. I'm using the inexpensive NC star 2X7 pistol scope and so far I've been happy with this inexpensive scope.

Yea Val I have heard good things about Darrel's mounts. I will get one as soon as I get dies and some 264 brass as it seems every one is out of the 7.5 stuff now. Getting some ammo to shoot is the first priority. Darrels Mount for the K31 is a deal considering the prices of the other mounts out there. Jim
