Where are they made?
« on: September 24, 2004, 08:03:46 PM »
Does anyone know where the Bear and Martin recurve bows are being made now? I was considering buying a new bow from either company, but if its made overseas I won't purchase it. All my old Bears were made in the USA  . Any info would be appreciated.

I can tell you a little bit about Martin Archery. There traditional bows are made in the old Damon Howat plant in Yakima Washington and then sent to there distribution and compound manufacturing plant in Walla Walla Washington. Yes just like in the cartoons. They do not give tours to the Howat plant any more, but you can get a tour of the Walla Walla plant, There are some great bows at that plant. But if you come over to my neck of the woods I would recommend going to Northwest Archery's Pope and Young Museum by Seattle that is about 3.5hrs away. This place is were I really got bit by the archery bug.

I posted a question on the Leatherwall about the Martin Vision a few days ago. I had heard they weren't going to make this model any more. Who should post back and respond but Mr. Hatfield. I don't know if he's the head bowyer there but from his statement he makes a lot of them. I'd say that's a pretty good reponse. Right from the horse's mouth so to speak. They aren't going to stop making the Vision any time soon according to him.
In case you can't tell, I'm sold on Martin.
