Well, this just happened yesterday, (03/12/05). I sale spring turkey leases on my place which begins here in Okla, 04/06/05 and runs for 30 days, or until 05/06/05. Well anyhow a couple of new guys, that ain`t never been here before, came up last week to buy some turkey leases. I explained what the condition`s were, and what me as a land owner expects from them, and then showed them around the property. I told them that if they would like, that they can come out before turkey season and do me a favor by shooting some coyotes for me, as they (the coyotes) can do alot of damage to turkeys, if they catch them. They jumped at the chance, cause that give them an excuse to do some early scouting, and do some shooting as well.
Well they agreeded to show up Sat morning (which was yesterday, 03/12th) at 05:30, to get in the woods, and get set up for some coyote calling, using there wounded rabbit mouth call.--- Before it got light enough to start calling, they heard someone walking through the woods, and suspected it might be a tresspasser. Funny thing was however, that the footsteps, that they was a hearing, had no light to guide himself by. (remember, its still dark). They found this to be alittle unerving, since its totally dark and the foot steps are getting closer, and closer.
Now picture in your mind, your in deep--deep--woods. Its so dark, you can`t see your hand, in front of your face, and something or someone, is walking in your direction with no form of light to see to walk by :shock: . There is no wind, no moonlight, just the stillness of the night, and the crunching of the dried leaves, as what ever, is heading in your direction. ---Crunch---crunch----crunch, its getting closer. Well they couldn`t stand it anymore, and they turned on the spotlight, in its, direction, and thats when they saw it. Two hugh green eyeballs, that was about 6ft off the ground. Instandly, the thing took off and they never got to see the whole form of whatever it was. They said all they saw, was two hugh green eyeballs, and a form of something that they couldn`t make out.
Well needless to say, they was scared pretty bad, but they did stay there and tried to call a few coyotes, when it just started to get daylight. They saw no coyotes, or anything else, except they did get to hear the turkeys, when they came down off the roost.
They came back to the house after the hunt and relayed the story to me. They wanted to know what in the world that could be. I told them that it probably was there imagination, (cause I dont think they would believe me), and it was probably a racoon in a tree. :-D :-D . The way they gave me that look after I said that statement was :shock: . Oh I`ll tell them the truth after they get to know me better, but right now, it might have them to think that I`m a nut case :-D :-D .
