Where to get a B-78 Grip Cap?
« on: March 13, 2005, 10:02:36 AM »
I recently got a B-78 that has had the grip cap replaced with a poorly fitting substitute.  Does anyone know where I might find the correct replacement?  Not just the metal insert, but the whole cap.  I have tried Numerich, Midwest Gun Works, and Western Gun Parts with no success.

Thanks

Give Brownell's a try.  I'm surprised none of those you tried had that item.  If you don'th ave a catalog let me know and I'll try to get you a part # if they have them.

Browning's web site says you should be able to get parts for the B-78 at Chatham's, 1503 C.R. 2217, Tennessee Colony, Texas 75861, Phone: 903-928-2400.  Also, here's a link to a parts diagram & list: http://gunsmith.ws/Diagrams/Browning/b-78.htm

Thanks for the replies.  I called Chatham's.  The gentleman there said that "they don't exist on this earth".  I guess I will have to fit a generic grip cap unless I get lucky and stumble across one somewhere.

Thanks Brian.  I was considering this one.  It is for the 1885 BPCR.  A little bigger though, and color case hardened steel instead of plastic.  I may try one of these if I can't find anything that fits better.
