Winchester 94 in 32 Win Special good deal or not?
« on: March 16, 2005, 01:13:01 PM »
I have a opportunity to pick up a Winchester 94 in 32 Win Special. It's in good overall shape, blueing on the barrel 80%, bluing on receiver <50%, rifling sharp and clean. I have been told the rifle is a pre 64 (S/N 21216xx). I think I can pick it up for $200.00 is this good?

thanks,

Sounds like a deal to me. I would guess it to be worth at least $350. in good condition.

I think $200.00 is a good price to pay. .32WS ammunition is more expensive then .30-30 and there is not much difference between the two otherwise. Your rifle would be an early 1950's production. I own a M94 chambered for .32WS, S# 2160064. I have read it was manufactured in 1955 or 56. I like it. The wood is beautiful. Oil finished walnut with vertical grains running through the butt stock. Almost tiger stripped. I cannot believe they let this wood go out on a standard run rifle. It has a Redfield aperture sight fitted and I added a Williams Firesight front post. I took it to a gunsmith, he rated it at 80% condition and the bore at 98%. I bought it used for $295.00 Canadian. Where I live .32WS ammo is $20.00-25.00 a box while .30-30 can be had for $14.50 a box. I have used this rifle twice for still hunting deer. Carries well, nice and light. Did not meet a deer while carrying it. I'll try it again next season.
