Caught the tale end yesterday evening when I got home.  Another Grizzly attack storey from Alaska.  The guy says he stuck his 300 in its mouth and fired.  It proceeded to mawl(sp) him anyway.  Huummm!  

I have come to the conclusion that no caliber is large enough to stop one of those babies if you piss'em off.

That's why if I'm in bear kountry, I'm gonna be carrying my 45-70 NEF with Ruger level loads (350gr at 2300+ fps) or, no joke, my 458 Lott !

Is that a recent happening?  If so I haven't heard anything about it.  Those usually make the papers here.  It takes a lot to stop or kill one of those big bears.  When they decide to come after you, if you don't hit the brain or spine, they will usually get you.  And, it's going to hurt.  I've lived here 33 years, only been charged once by a grizzly.  .35 Whelen 250gr Nosler partition, took out about 6" of spine.  Hope never to have to repeat that.

Sourdough if it was on OLN it couldn't have been too recently. Could of even happened years ago. Just because he stuck the barrel in the bear's mouth doesn't mean he hit any vital area. The bullet could easily have gone right thru the cheek doing little to immediately stop the attack.
