Polymer Coated Steel Casings on Cheap Ammo
« on: March 21, 2005, 07:29:25 AM »
I have read some negative postings on the use of steel cased ammunition, specifically for semi-auto weapons.  Supposed to shorten the life of a barrel due to excessive wear on the feeding ramps.

Question - Wolf ammunition puts some type of polymer coating on the outside of their casings.  Does the coating have any effect in reducing wear etc.?  Or, is it all junk?

I have purchased some for plinking with a bushmaster and mini-14.  More for fun (killing dirt clods / cans), not for hunting, therefore, this is not a question of accuracy, but excessive wear on my weapons.  Am I destroying my weapons using this stuff?
