629 Classic DX gets new home!
« on: February 10, 2005, 11:19:29 AM »
Well..had the winter blues so I figured I would buy an early Valentines present for myself.  Dang if I dont pick nice presents!

So..I trudged out to my favorite gun store in the lousy NY weather and adopted a new in the box 629-5 classic DX made in 2001.  No internal lock and a paper target showing a .75 inch group.
Now that is a sweet Valentines Day gift!

629 vs. 629DX

OK, this is my opportunity. I have a standard 629 Classic, 6.5 barrel, with the nose pin, i.e., exposed firing pin, and I have had it quite a while. I have been totally satisfied with this gun, and have shot more than one one-hole group at 25yds. with it, regardless of load. I usually load 2400 or H110, but have used Bullseye and Unique for reduced loads, which also shoot really good.

What is basically the difference between the DX and the standard model? I figure it is more factory tuned for the DX. I could have bought one but didn't have quite the bucks.

Thanks

Jack

I think the DX and Classics were both shot by the factory and the more accurate of them were labeled as DX's? For an old f*rt like me, I would need a Ransom Rest to be able to see the potential accuracy of either.
