MUELLER IN LOW LIGHT
« on: March 25, 2005, 05:03:33 AM »
I have read where several people have done reviews on these scopes and I will prob get one soon to go on my .243 handi. I am wondering how they perform in low light conditions. I would like to sit as long as possible to make an ethical shot for deer but would also like to be able to take some shots at yotes in fairly low light conditions (moonlight). Any comments or recomendations would be appreciated.

Mueller in Low Light

I think they're pretty good in low light situations.  I just got a 3-9 X40 IGR and have only been able to use it one time in the field.  It was on one of those moon lit nights at about 5:00 in the morning.  Although I didn't get any coyotes in my crosshairs I couldn't resist scoping out the area at the end of my sets.  I was real pleased with the scopes performance and really liked the red dot.  I found out that you don't need to turn the intensity up much past 2 or 3.  In my opinion this scope is a keeper.  I bought this scope primarily for night time coyote hunting and it suits that purpose real good.

MUELLER IN LOW LIGHT

I recently bought a Mueller 3X9 with a lighted dot for hog hunting at night.  It is just the ticket but my experience with low light situations differs with getom59.  I find the Mueller to be great in daylight with clear optics from wall to wall.  It is not a good light gathering scope. I definitely found it to be lacking in low light but I did not buy it for low light but for night hunting hogs and it fills the bill quite nicely.  Moonlight is fine but with the lighted dot.  If you can see the silhouette of the game you can put the dot where you want and bam.  I just came back from a successful hog hunt using the Mueller at night with a half-moon.  Oh yeah my eyes are 58 yr. old. The Optic Zone will make you a great deal on one.
