I bought a used G23 not too long ago, and the frame where the slide contacts at full recoil is chipped and cracked away. The gun functions great , but could this become a problem? I was wondering if Glock would warranty this. A friend of mine bought a brand new 23 and he can see the same spot getting hammered. Tha

The only way to find out is to locate a Glock dealer, and ask. I suspect you may be covered under a warranty or a service agreement. You may be covered under the recall we have been discussin' so much here lately. Good luck, Glock is pretty good about things..PLEASE, let us know how it goes.

I first saw this message last week when I was at work and meant to respond when I got home. Forgot until I found it just now.

First there is nowhere that the slide in a Glock 23 "contacts" at full recoil. The slide rides on four rails. The slide is stopped from contacting the frame by the recoil spring and spring guide.

So the question is what part of the gun are you looking at that is battered?

There are two square lugs just forward of the front rails on the frame. It seems the part of the slide where the guide rod goes through is hitting these lugs. They told me to send it in at Glock so they could look at it. Thank you for your replies-Tad :grin:

Sounds like you are on the right track by shipping it back to the Factory.

My 23 has a lot of rounds through it and after you gave your desription of the location of the problem, I checked mine. Nothing. With the slide to the rear I still had about 1/8 inch of travel before contact could occur in that area. Of course a slide in recoil could be forced back further, but I see no evidence of that in my gun.

You said you bought the gun used. I wonder if some one changed the recoil spring and/or spring guide out.
