I HATE to admit it, but a Burris 2x7 caught my eye tonight. The only reason why I hate to admit it is I KNOW that I don't have to spend this much $$$ for a hunting scope. Lets just say it was LOVE at first sight. My question is, does Burris do "custom" reticles like other scope manufacturers do? Figure if I am going to spend this kind of coin, I should be able to spend a couple of more nickels and get the reticle converted to the BallisticPlex.

Good luck with your Burrius. I bought 2 of them, a 3 x 9 and a 1 1/2 x 4, both ler`s. I put the 3 x 9 on a .357 max. and sighted it in at 80 yrds. I was not happy with my 3 1/2 in. groups, but figurded that would still kill deer at 100 yrds. Set it on 3 x and fired another group. 1 in. center to center, but the center of the groups were abt. 7 in. appart. Sold that scope, the other seems to be alright, but haven`t shot it much yet.

You got one of the best scopes you can get in that price range. On par with Leupold in Customer Service and guarantee at a slightly lower price. I have nothing but Burris scopes on my hunting handguns. In fact most of my rifles, especially the big bores and heavy kickers, wear Burris glass. To answer your question about a Ballistic Plex reticule installed on your scope the answer is Yes. Go to http://www.burrisoptics.com/customer.html and check out their Customer Service Department. In the over twenty-five Burris scopes I have bought I have never had a problem with one. Lawdog

Didn't buy the Burris....yet! ...the wife was standing right next to me. :? Thanks for that link...$50 seems really reasonable to me. My .45Colt won't even be here until Tuesday or so, and I have to give 'er a good test run with open sights and a red dot. The Burris is definately the front runner right now!

If you have the newer style 2-7 you can have a Ballistic PLex reticle put on your scope. If it the older 2.5-7 or the 3-9 you cannot.
I have four 3-12 LER's (now 5) all with the ballistic Plex Reticles--I love em.
Use them on 284 Win, 6.5-284, 7.82 patriot (Lazzeroni short action), 260 Remington, and a 250 Sav AI.

Does anyone know why Natchez has reburbished Burris Scopes? Has the quality changed on Burris since they where purchased by Berretta? I have both Burris and Leopold and have never had a problem with either brand.

Doug,

My son bought one of those "refurbish" from Natchez for his wife's .25 WSSM. I too wondered but it came with the same guarantee. I haven't seen any difference in Burris scopes since Beretta bought them. And like you, I have both Burris and Leupold scopes and consider them to be the two best scopes one can purchase in the price range. Lawdog

I had one of the 2x7 Burris and the only thing I disliked about it was the size and weight. Seems that other brands are a little smaller and lighter and that is important to me with a handgun scope.

On my electronic scales the Leupold 2.5-8x weights 11.683oz.(minus rings) and the Burris 2-7x weights 12.041 oz. That is a difference of 0.358 oz.,. Lawdog

The ballistic plex reticle is offered as a stock item in the 2 x 7 HG scope for 2005. There is no need to buy a 2 x 7 scope, and send it in to have the BP reticle installed. The Burris stock number for a 2 x 7 matte finish with BP reticle is 200279.

I swore off Burris scopes a long time ago. Yes, I know others love them. Give me a Leopold or Redfield every time!
