Trigger spring instructions?
« on: March 06, 2005, 11:51:11 AM »
Anyone have a link to instructions on changing the trigger pull with Brownell's spring kits?
Ordered the kit but no instructions with the order. How do you install the hammer spring?
Thanks, Richard

Not all single actions are the same so knowing which make/model would be of great assistance here.

If you pull the grips off the gun you should be able to figure it out, it`s not to hard.

After removling the grip panels, place a strong pin into the hole on the hammer strut and gently pull back the hammer. Should be able to remove the trigger/spring assembly now.  Note the position of the top of the strut circle. Now the fun part...gotta compress that spring and remove the retaining pin being careful not to let the spring "sproing" away from you.  Put the new spring on and compress it to re-insert the retaining pin.  Return the assembly back into the gun keeping the top circle in the same position as before.  Use the hammer to compress the spring to take out the pin. To change out the trigger spring (bent up paper clip looking one), when the hammer spring assembly is removed, eae the legs off the pins and pull it out.  Reinstall the new one in reverse order. Put the grip panels back on and you should be good to go.
Look in your manual and you should find a scematic or use this one. http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=1910zBISLEY%20-%20BLACKHAWK%20VERSION

Same type gun, Ruger Bisley Blackhawk ... this is easier said than done. What is not mentioned here is the slotted square that the tip of the spring assembly goes into. I've got the spring compressed with a thick piece of paper clip, and I've inserted the north end with the circle into the slot on the hammer according to the diagram. I can insert the south end into the slotted square, but I can't slide the square over the bumps on the grip frame to get it to lock into place.

HELP! I've already chingered up the slotted square, but its nothing the grips won't cover up. I also managed to poke a screw driver into the web of my left hand, which really smarts. I am doing something wrong, no doubt about it. Somebody help me.

You need to make sure the round top of the strut is completely in the notch in the back of the hammer.  The paper clip may not have enough stiffness to hold the strut guide high enough to clear the frame.  A small punch works better.

Hope this helps.
