:cb2: I have a Swedish Mauser that I would like to rebarrel. Believe it or not, I am happy with the old military stocks and would like to be able to rebarrel it in this configuration. However, I realize this may not be possible. I know I'll lose the front sight, but that's no big deal--it has a scope mounted on it already. I don't know anything about barrel contours.

1) What do I need to get to rebarrel it as is?

2) What do I need to rebarrel it with an after market sporter stock?

Well I have made assumptions before .... but I didn't learn anything.... Does it shoot OK.... bad groups?? Cause the old 6.5 Swede (if that is what it is) is a darn good choice. For that reason if you are simply looking to get a "better" 6.5, call Lothar walther and get a new BBl same cal. same contour.  If a "new" caliber is desired ... that is a horse of a different color and we need to "discuss" further.     Marty    BTW there is a swede bbl on gunbroker ATT

if you are just rebarreling due to the condition of the current barrel, you may consider trying to locate a swede surplus replacement barrel- these things are amazingly accurate with a good barrel on them.

If your just looking for info just now to rebarrel only.  You'd need (1)a short chambered barrel(I'll assume you don't have access to a lathe), (2) the correct chamber reamers and headspace gauges, (3) barrel vice/ action wrench to install the barrel, (4)knowledge...  depending on the barrel you install you may also need to alter the inletting in the stock..  

For a rebarrel with a new stock you'd need the above as well as the replacement stock and the tools and knowledge to install the barreled action into the wood.

Your skill of course will determine how the project turns out.
