HELP WITH SCOPE SELECTION??
« on: March 22, 2005, 07:22:12 AM »
Hi

I want to get the bushnell 3200 or 4200 Elite 3 x 9 X 40 scope. The only thing that stops me is the eye relief is stated to be 3 inches.

The other scope I am looking at is the Zeiss Conquest 3 x 9 x 40, which has a constant eye relief of 4 inches, but it is twice the price of the Bushnell.

How critical is  the eye relief? I am a new muzzleloader shooter and would be mounting it on a TC Encore 209x50 for whitetail hunting.

Thank you
Gary

I can't say I know anyone personally who shoots with more than 3 inches of eye relief.  I've "scoped" myself a couple times, but it was my fault for being LESS than 3 inches away.

Any of the scopes you mentioned will do just fine for your muzzleloader.  :D

The Sightron S2 is a great scope. It has better eye relief than the Bushnell.
I got one at ultout.com
They are a very good company with great prices, they sell the Bushnell also. My S2 cost $185, 3-9x42
Aim small don't miss.

3200 Elite with the Rainguard and FireFly is the cat's meow 8)  8) .

Seriously, for the money, it's tough to beat.  You will have plenty of eye relief.   I have one on my 50 cal and have never had a problem, even wiht magnum loads.

I also have one on my 12 ga A-Bolt, again no problem, even with a blistering 3" mag slug or a high velocity 2 3/4.
