Rcvd my XR-100. Just in time to mount a scope and shoot in a factory match (group). I found 9 rounds of .223 ammo I had left over from groundhog hunting with a sporter .223 (gi brass, 55gr Rem bullets) and used that to get the rifle on paper. Using ammo that had not been tuned to the rifle and a powder load that was a kinda "poke and hope", I shot the match. Cold and windy. .571, .390, .510, .643, .483 for an agg of .5194.
I mounted the scope on saturday to shoot today (sunday). The rifle had not been "broken in". I cleaned it well out of the box using Hoppe's, Butches Bore Shine and about 10 passes of JB paste. After shooting the 9 rounds of sight-in ammo, I cleaned the bore and was quite surprised at how easily it cleaned. It also felt quite a bit slicker than your usual factory barrel.
The trigger is adjustable but I found it very gritty on the break. I didn't have time to do anything to the trigger before I shot the match. Hopefully, it will clean up better than it is now. And maybe my groups will improve, altho I'll be the first to admit that I am not a very good shot. I kinda look at shooting like making love, you don't have to be good at it to enjoy it.
For those to whom it makes a difference, there isn't a J-lock nor is there a long "legend" on the side of the barrel about safety books and such. It has a laminated, thumb-hole stock that is ventilated under the barrel and is well shaped and balanced. It certainly doesn't look like one of those ugly POS's that you keep in the back of the safe and brag about how accurate and cheap it is.
So far, I'm pleased.
