Beneli's shoot faster and recoil better.  Not to mention that they are a lot lighter.  With their new criogenically frozen barrels and improved choke tube system, they will not wear with steel shot and also pattern much better.  And they look better, but cost much more also.
Accuracy doesn't come from the arrow, it comes from the Indian!

C130E,
I SHOOT A FEW DIFFERENT SHOT GUNS.  I LIKE TO USE different ONES EVERY FEW TIMES I HUNT. MOST PEOPLE LIKE TO GET TO KNOW ONE REALLY WELL, FOR SOME REASON I LIKE TO CHANGE THOUGH OUT THE YEAR.  870 WING MASTER, 870 EXPRESS, REM 1100, BROWNING GOLD, AND GOLD EURO WHICH IS NOW THE CLASSIC.  FOR SOME REASON I WANTED A NON BIASED opinion AND I THANK YOU FOR IT.  SO MANY GIVE THERE OPINION INSTEAD OF FACTS. I DO NOT MIND THEIR OPINION IF THEY HAVE USED BOTH TO COMPARE. SOME DAY MAYBE THIS FALL OR NEXT I WILL BUY A BENELLI TO GIVE IT A TRY.  OF COURSE THE PRICE SEEMS TO FREEZE ME A BIT.  THOUGH THE GOLD IS NOT FAR AWAY, BUT IT SEEMS I GET HOOK ON SOMETHING ELSE BEFORE THE BENELLI. ( THIS YEAR IT WAS A NEW BLIND FOR MY BOAT)  I HAVE READ MANY OF YOU POSTS AND HAVE ALWAYS FELT YOU GIVE GREAT FEED BACK. GLAD YOU REPLIED..  YOU ARE A TRUE ASSET TO GB.  THANKS.  IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SOMETHING TO ADD PLEASE DO!

I would go with the Benelli.  I have two of them and they give me zero problems.

I also own a Browning Gold.  I only own it because I have been trying to sell it since August.  It jammed about 80% of the time.  I sent it back to Browning and they replaced all the gas system components.  I never shot it after the return, the Benellis just serve me to well to mess around with another dirty gas operated gun.  I have heard alot of intersting comments while trying to sell it like, the Golds don't even make good boat anchors or those things jam more than they shoot.  I know many have them and love them Gold's, but my experience has not been good.  By the way, I have come down to $475 on the Gold which is one heck of a price and can still not move it.  That tells me alot about buyers overall opinion of a gun.

well,if your not bent on getting a 3.5 all the talk about browning gold i don't understand in rregardsto comparing to a benelli not a good comparison nobody ever talks about the browning fusion it is however a 3" but is every bit as light and will shoot just as fast as a benelli plus as like the gold it ddoesn'thave that screwed up bolt design that benelli has i have had two bebenelli'snd have had problems with both bolts i cannot stand there bolt design. Also as iowa buck hunter stated benelli's shoot faster well if your rarappenhells off your not takin the time to aim so to me that is memerely mute point that ddoesn'tmatter any way.Try out a fusion just as light break down is just as easy and they don't have the kick that benelli has due to the fact that it is a gas operated gun just my opinion.
good luck in your search :D

I shoot a Browning Gold 12 Ga 31/2" with synthetic stock for geese and Turkeys.  Had it for for a few years and only fire 20-25 shots a year and then only 3 1/2 " loads.  Never jams, easy to clean.  Recoil of a max Remington Heavi shot load is significant.  I appreciate the extra weight  for both the recoil and the smooth swing for geese.  It has a decent recoil pad on it.  Choke tubes are easy to find.

I would not use it to hunt grouse, quail, doves, nor any these types of game where you want a quick pointing gun.  I shoot all of these creatures with a light  20 ga.

benelli's shoot any load, even the lightest.  It is sometimes a problem for a 3.5" gun to shoot a trap load, becuase they do not have as much gas.  A gas operated 3.5 needs a lot of gas to cycle and light loads do not havae as much.  That is why benelli is better, becuase light loads still have recoil, and that is all it takes to cycle it.  and the new benelli's do not recoil hard becuase of their new design- trust me, I have 3.  I don't know how a fusion got thrown into the discussion, but it is not comparable to what we are talking about becuase it is only a 3" gun.  sure it is light, but that is about all it has going for it.  and they still kick.  it is not much of a waterfowl gun, as most of us are talking about.  keep it at the target range.  and the benelli bolt design it as good as it gets.  too smooth for you?

I would have to say the Gold is smoother than the benelli.  I have shot both back to back.  I love both guns.  Just wanted to hear others opinions. :D
