Hand grip.
« on: March 30, 2005, 11:33:31 AM »
I put some new hand grips on a 1911-A1 SFA of mine. Once I put them on I noticed that the bottom right(my shooting hand) the screw was not all the way flush like the other three were. It is not bad and barely noticable, but I wanted to get it that fraction of a inch in there like the rest of them. It just does not seem to want to go. I checked the screw and the threads on it and the gun also every thing seems to be fine. What should I do.

Is it possible that it can like this from SFA? Have any of you encountered this. Or should I just live with it?

Is the screw head flush when the grips are off the pistol?  If not, the grip is not counterbored deep enough.  If it is, the screw is not threaded close enough to the head or the screw is too long.

Well it could be that this particular spot on the grip is thin. Might need a spacer under the grip to raise the grip a tad higher.
