How many of you still......

Just wondering how many of you still use big in-line spinners for bass?  Sense the Hawaiian Wiggler is no longer made I've had to start making something like them myself.  I was dragging a 3/8 oz. black one near the tules yesterday and managed to limit out in just over two hours.  Biggest one went just over 6 lbs., not bad for this time of the year.  Lawdog

I have for years fished for smallmouth in late summer on the Cumberland River above Cumberland Falls wading.  The number 1 bait to use then is a rooster tail.  Yeah, I know someone's gonna laugh at me, but I have went down there with 3 of those things hanging from my mesh had and 1 on the line and caught and released over a hundred smallmouth in a day.  Now mind you, not very many are big, but on 4 or 6lb line with a light spinning reel and that little roostertail, those 100 10" brown bass, and river current, your arm will be tired by the time you get home.

Up here in Connecticut inline spinners have been the best for bass in small lakes, rivers and ponds. the inlines i use are Mepps anglia #3 silver/gray tail, Mepps XD3 silver/dressed,  Joesflies in 1/4oz bass size Blackgnat, firetiger apache and glo tiger I think these are overlooked by many bass fisherman. I'm fishing mainly from shore and have caught as many as 18 bass one outing on joesflies in 1/4oz firetiger apache in low light overcast day. I have also switched from the blackgnat in daylite catching bass and when evening came it slowed up I switched to the firetiger and started catching fish again. The Panther Martin spin-fly's are another hot bait here bass and pickerel in ponds and lakes and in rivers the number 4 or 6 silver/yellow fly is a hot bait color here I cast it out in the rivers letting it flow with the river making the stream pressure spin the spinner letting it go over and behind rocks the strikes are awesome from bass. And don't forget the scent I use baitmate bass or YUM shad scents it does make a difference.                         BigBill
