The .204 Ruger is a standard listing with TC for a Contender. You would not need to go to the custom shop. You can get them full bull or tapered with sights. I have a factory full bull carbine length (23"). You can go to Midway or Midsouth or possibly Ed's and get one for around $220-240. I bought one from a forum friend for >$200. Thus far mine has proven very accurate......much to the dismay of several dozen prairie dogs.

Yeah I no they are avail. from T/C as a regular stock bbl. in 23'' bull blued, but as far as i can see they are not avail. in stainless from t/c and if the custom shop is making them they would be avail. in the stainless finish for around 275.00 . after getting my last bbl. (7-30 waters ) from the custom shop and the accuracy that I'm getting and liking the stainless finish i thought i might go with them again.Just curious as the .204 isn't listed on  the custom shop website.  SKB 2706 you lucky dog , wish we had 1000's of those little dogs here in PA , we have the big old whistle-pigs here which are fun but you can't get the numbers that you get with those little prairie dogs !!!!

I do wish that mine was a SS barrel but I couldn't pass up the deal I got. One of the things I found is that a .204 Ruger barrel on a Contender makes the gun a true long range varminter.......nothing I have found is even close. I have a few varmint setup for Contender carbines and pretty much they are 200-300 yd. guns. the .204 can double that.

ch - I know what you mean.....for the longest time I could not figure out what the big deal was. Not realizing the pds don't spread very far east from here. In CO they live on virtually any highway island, 1000's of acres of prairie, many housing developments and just about anywhere they can. My sister farms several thousands of acres on the plains and gives me access to property that is home to tens of thousands.
