Lee has to molds..one says it is .323 75 gr...but..shouldn't it be aat least .325?

They also haave a 205 gr bullet but it is .329? Probably too large.....but I have not been able to figure what rifle would shoot a .329 bullet.....I would love a heavier bullet for plinking with my 8mm Mauser.....but..which one?

Hey Bob, I've had very good luck with the RCBS 32-170FP. A diameter of .323 in my rifle shoots well. No leading and good results to 100 yards; or as far as you can use the Mauser sights. Luck

I suggest that you slug the barrel. I know you hear this from everyone, but for the 2 Mausers that I have the Yugo measures .324 and the Turk measures .329 I ended up buying both bullet molds and seperate dies for each. I use a Lee special order sizing die .325 for the Yugo and am going to try the .329 sizing die for the Turk. I am using the Lee collet die for the Yugo and the Lee full length die for the Turk. I substituted the SE1104 expander from the 8x56R Hungarian die to open up neck for the larger diameter bullet when using the full length 8mm Mauser die. You can also order oversized mandrels for the Lee collet die - I believe they charge $10

I have another Mauser on order - hopefully it won't have another bore dimension.

The .329 bullet is listed for the 8x56R Hungarian

I've got one of those Lee moulds; it casts out at .326", and works quite well in everything I've tried it in so far. (couple of Yugo 48's and a CZ 24.)I use 32 cal. Hornady gaschecks, the 30 cal. ones are too small.

Hi Robert, Hello to all,

I also use the RCBS 170 FN that Bumble uses. I have several 8mms and a .32/40, It works excellent in them all.
It casts nice bullets with plenty of lube capacity. I generally use a gas check and 15-18 grains of 2400, I'm sure that the bullet would handle more velocity, but it works for targets and plinking out to 200yds or so, thats all I ask.

HEY....Nobade, which mold do you have? The .329/ 205 gr, or the .323/ 175 gr? You said it is casting .326, but didn't mention which mold. Also...what alloy are you using?

The 8mm Cartridge family in Europe is like the .30 cal in the U.S.
J&G Tools List 49 different 8mm Reamers.

There are at least 3 different bore diameters to my knowledge. the 8x57J is .318 in diameter and originated in germany in 1888. In 1905 Germany changed to a .323 Diameter and the cartridge was renamed the 8x57JS or the 8x57S the S meaning the .323 diameter. This is the most common Military 8mm. Lee designed 324-175-1R mold for this cartridge.

The 8x56R is a rimmed cartridge adopted by Hungary in 1931 for the Styer Mannlicher Rifle. It has a bore diameter of .329 Lee designed the 329-205-1R mold for this cartridge.
