I talked to customer service today and am sending a receiver for a 357 barrel. Nef says if you don't send the butt stock then they will not test fire the new barrel. Seems strange to me but I quess I well send it.

Deadeye doesn't send stocks with his, so it will work....

They said they would fit the barrel but will not test fire it without the stock. I would think they would fire ok if they fit it right. Therefore It would not be mandatory to send the butt stock.

The reason Deadeye doesn't send the stock is because they dinged up his stock on one of em, so he just sends the receiver. MtJerry just got his 44mag barrel back and his forend had a ding in it, which H&R sent him a replacement for.

Maybe it would be a good idea to just hang on to a set of pallet woods that you don't really need, just for that purpose. That way if they get dinged up, its no big deal. They don't even have to be adult size for them to "Test Fire" the gun. Works for me!

Good idea. I think I will do that. I want to get another synthetic stock anyway.
