Where is a good place to start in Cowboy Action Shooting?

Where do you start? Where can you get information on the required guns, clothes, locations etc. I have a buddy that is in this and says he really enjoys it but he is like me, just wanting to get started and he isn't too sure either.
When in doubt look to the Lord.

Where to start

Welcome,
The first place I would go would be directly to the SASS  website.  Everything you need to know about rules and such are listed there.  There is also a listing of all affiliated clubs that might be in your area.  Find a club make some calls let them know you are coming.  And finally go and there may be some folks wanting to let you borrow guns.  So take some 45 colt or 38 special cowboy loads.. remember no jacketed bullets and a couple of boxes of #7 1/2 12 gauge shells.  If you have a hat and boots wear them.  If you get to  a club and folks arent trying to help ya  find another one but I doubt thats going to happen.
After that start hanging around here asking questions and learning from these fine folks.  A few of us arent much ahead of ya in gettin started.
Have fun and be safe...good luck

Agree that reading a lot of our past posts here will give you a good idea as to what CAS is all about.

Looks like the closest SASS Club is the Mississippi River Rangers in Byhalia. They shoot on the 4th Saturday of the month. Give Easy Lee a call at (662) 838-7451. He is listed as the contact in the current issue of the Cowboy Chronicle. You will have a great time in CAS..... it's even more fun than being a kid 'cause the big people don't holler at ya for havin' fun.
