Tomorrow I take stock

off my model 99 mule-eared SxS and start working it down from the 4x10" slab it is.  Gun is great, so's the forearm but the bottom of the stock is waaay too thick.  Cap sent the secret to getting it off (there's a pin under the hammer side plates that has to be driven out first).

Then it's just me, the stock and a belt sander.  Got a spare 97 stock that will be my model.  So I figure I'll take a bit off, compare and continue as needed.

And, yes, I remember what my Daddy said about, "You can always take a bit more off, but it's hard to put a bit more back on."

Well, that got shot down!

Yesterday evening my compressor motor decided to die.  Been spending the day tracking down a replacement.  Seems Sanborn was bought out by Coleman (that took awhile to figure out) and when I finally got to their parts people the motor costs only $249!! and shipping on top of that.  I only paid $350 for the whole thing when it was new.  

Now I know prices go up but right now I'm looking at getting the motor repaired at $70.  And the wife comes in from a week trip in an hour.  So I get to hear all about it for the next couple of days which is OK but I'm out a motor while I'm being polite.  

There has to be a message in here somewhere....
