Info on brining guns back into the US from a trip to Canada
« on: February 18, 2005, 11:55:00 AM »
Hi Guys,
I am planning a trip to British Columbia next month. I want to take a couple of rifles into Canada and I have all the stuff necessary to do that (PAL and registration forms)

What I want to know is does anyone know what the procedure is (if any) to bring my guns back into the US when I come home.

Cheers
Kerry

At the border, let the gaurds know right away what you have (guns, game, alcohol, souveniers, ect)  There is no paper work needed for bringing guns back. I would make sure you hang on to your copy of the Canadian import form just in case. Good luck.

This might be a little late but you need proof you lawfully had the firearm in the U.S. before you left the Country.  The Canadian registration form is accept for the most part particularly if you acquired it at the border.  It may not  work if you flew into Canada...who knows where you flew in from.

The law does require you to stop at U.S. Customs before you leave the country and delare your firearms.  They will give you a Customs registration form so you will have proof you lawfully had the firearms in the U.S. before you left.
