officers model question
« on: March 31, 2005, 11:07:24 AM »
hi i got a colt officers model. and after shooting it i'd like to make some improvments on it and as this is my first 1911. i'd like an exteded beavertail safety as the stock one puts 2 bruise on my hand. i'd also like some better sights. but i'd like to be able to put the beaver tail safety and sights on my self. any suggestions? also i'll probely carry it concealed and it might be my backup gun when i'm hiking
common sense is slowly becoming uncommon

There are many places which sell the parts you are considering and a search on this and other forums here will reveal the location and some advice in doing this. Thata is a world class run-on sentence.

sachel 45:  Both Kings and Wilson make drop in beavertail grip safeties for the 1911s - you may have to check and see if there is a specific one made for that Officer's Model you have.  That should help with the bruises.

As for sights - one of the best looking, non-dragging set of sights I have seen is the Nowak sights - but, they are dovetailed into the slide so you would need a gunsmith to do that (it's recommended).

Check the Brownells catalog if you have one, they should have everything you need to dress that Offcier's Model.  HTH.  Mikey.

Novaks rocks. Have them on many 1911s.
