Those aren't SXS. Or are SXS something completely irrelevant? I'm confused now :?

Jim, I know I must look like an idiot now and don't make fun of me but I still can't find the (censored word) page. Would provide a link for SXS, not SPR### please? Thanx.  :D

That's a SxS 45/70.

Fish, OK, I see the problem now. GEMSBUCK was not refering to a model #. SxS = "side by side" in shotgunner language. O/U = you guessed it, "over-under". Although in rifle talk side by sides are usually just called "doubles". It can get confusing!

Too esoteric for me.  Maybe we should quote Justin Wilson, the cajun comic, and call them "two shoot guns".  I would hate to be behind a double in 45-70 when (and if) it doubled on me.  :(

it is my understanding that Remington bought this line from Baikal (sp) whom among it's many other models was promoteing this gun, then dropped production of the gun before it was ever produced as they negotiated the line for sale.
They also offered O/U rifle as well as their SxS
Remington chose to name this model the SPR22 as SXS available in both 45/70 & 30/06.
Back to my original question: has anyone held this gun- shot it - will it accept a 11mm scope rail as the Baikal would?

Says "11mm scope rail" in the features section of the earlier provided link.

Why would Remington make a 45-70 in a double barrel rifle that cannot handle the higher pressures?

Thanks

Maybe they're warning against those who like to reload? Maybe the barrels are cheap and can't handle pressures any greater from the factory ammo? Beats me otherwise :?
