Ritual: The cullin' o' thy brass
« on: April 05, 2005, 05:22:11 AM »
Due to the funeral of Our Holy Father Pope John Paul II, the cullin' o' thy brass will be delayed until Saturday this year. Of course, I mean the culling of undesirable 45ACP brass from my horde.

Targeted for this year is:
Amerc (a perpetually vile brand)
S&B (because it's just a little too hard to resize)
Winchester NT primed brass (because of the small primer pockets)
Any brass with a name that is similar but not identical to a well known brand name.
Aluminum or steel cases
Brass for other cartridges. Sometimes they volunteer to be in my horded, but they are unwanted. ESPECIALLY S&W 40 brass because I frequently mistake it for 45ACP when picking up brass.
Brass with cracks.
And finally, my favorites, any brass that has been fired so many times that I cannot read the headstamp any more. (Winchester is usually the first to go.)

Got any other suggestions?
Safety first

I suggest ditching any Winchester Win-Clean (not regular Winchester) brass in 45ACP.
This stuff is extremely hard to resize TRASH.
It is easily identified by the very-large primer flash hole.
Go MAGNUM/MAX LOAD or GO HOME !
Always use MUCH more gun than the minimum required to do the job.
Recoil is your FRIEND...It lets you know you are using something WORTHWHILE !

Anything with the neck smashed beyond the point of getting an expander button in.
